About Fast Bananas; When an artist titles a piece of work, sometimes it is easier than at other times, some piece's seems to name itself and this piece named itself. We had been working on a title for about two weeks and nothing struck our fancy! Then one day Vanessa was working on the gamboge Hughes #266 (warm yellow), and I had been painting the black dots of different sizes. I said, to Vanessa, the dots kind of look like cheetah dots, then Vanessa said, the yellow looks like bananas. “POW,” the title JUMPED at us. There are no bananas in this piece, just several circles, in fact every round shape we had in our kitchen. The first A/P (artist proof), was donated and auctioned off at the Ventura California Boys and Girls club on June 10, 2000 in Thousand Oaks, California.
This piece was created in 1999 and Kierah added her creative part in 2025. The feel I get from this piece is; it wasn't time to go to someones home until Kierah was here to help us be a three generation collaborating Art Team:
Created by The Worlds only collaborating Mother and Daughter Artists Team which includes; Clarissa (Mother), Vanessa (Daughter) and Kierah (Granddaughter). Both Mother and Daughter are two time each California State Fair Awardee's in the Arts. In addition, we wanted to study all of the Mother and Daughter Artists teams from around the world. Wouldn't you think there would be many such teams. Well we couldn't find any at our library's in Santa Paula, Ventura or Los Angeles, California. So we decided to contact The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. 2000 to inquire about their list of mother and daughter art teams. They wrote back and consequently, were invited to be archived into the Clara Database, Washington D.C. 2000. It is our goal to become blue-ship artists with our oils, watercolors, fusion glass art.
